Hot Flash

By Dairine Pearson

Hot flash isn’t quite right
not entirely accurate
more like a rosy dawn
spreading over my body sky
or
a crescendo of applause
breaking out in the audience
at the close of the symphony
signaling the end of the music

After immigrating from Ireland, Dairine Pearson has lived in Goleta for over 30 years. She works as a grief counselor and finds solace and healing in nature, music, movement and poetry. Also by this poet: "Forest Walk"
