Twin Souls

By Anne Neubauer

He places the two soles
of her discarded sandals together.

The stitched outlines
mirror as they sit across from one another.

The heavy heel base
makes a slight click as

they press
together.

She stares at the double
union and asks

if he
likes them,

watching their dark
uniformed bolts

press into compliant
white leather.

Yes.
Yes.

Anne Neubauer is a writer and poet and has a deep love of literature. Her poetry is inspired by daily time spent in the quiet of the natural world near the Pacific Ocean in both northern and southern California. Also by this poet: "From the Backseat"
